Casimiro Montenegro Filho Astronomy Hub
It is characterized as a science center with focus on Astronomy whose activities aim at education, research and tourism. It has a planetarium, an observatory and external structures that allow the visitor's interaction in teaching activities.
The Astronomy Hub is certified by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), being part of a global search network in astronomy. In 2016, it published eight scientific articles and obtained financial resources from CNPq for the purchase of a new telescope three times as big as the current one, which will be installed in 2017.
In the educational area, the Astronomy Hub works with teacher and students' training in undergraduate level, promoting an improvement in the quality of teaching and contributing to the construction of a regional scientific culture, through scientific promotion activities.
The Hub is also part of the attractions of the Itaipu's Tourist Complex, attending visitors from all over the world. In 2016, it received the TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence, which awards tourism and hospitality establishments which offer high quality services, according to evaluations from travelers.
